The HAPiWEC project were proud to attend the Supergen ORE Hub Wave Energy Workshop, held at the Leonardo hotel in Plymouth on 11th February. Team members Tom Davey, Ross Calvert, David Campos-Gaona, and Adam Stock delivered a presentation highlighting the projects progress so far, including the development of the novel HAPiGYM software framework, the new hardware integration methods utilising inexpensive and easily available hardware, and early footage of some of the commissioning process for the OSPREY I wave energy converter model. Ross took the opportunity to demonstrate the “Bobblehead*” test system, demonstrating how the system hardware integration protocols allow remote access through the internet of things.
The team also heard updates from other projects funded within the marine wave energy call, and were able to join these project teams in helping identify the route forward for wave energy research through an interesting and lively workshop on the topic.
Thanks to Prof. Deborah Greaves and the Supergen Offshore Renewable Energy Hub for running the event, and to the other project teams who presented exciting and thought provoking talks across a broad range of wave energy topics.
*Note Bobblehead is the name for a baby Osprey!
